Hyperion

In her own right, the remarkable star of the modern turf – her 4 L. win takes out the 2021 Melbourne Cup.

These are great racing days to remember. It was sooooo good, so genuine, so very courageous n’ bold: princess to Queen (1400m – 3200m)

  • @pedigree V.E. tribute – @ geno-factors – aka 3×3 Danehill, 4×4 sire Cotehele House he the son of the legendary producer Eight Carat female family below.

(in-set credit – pedigreequery.com)

Eight Carat’s principle progenitors of all – Man O’ War male line, 2x Nearco, Djebel, plus the Hurry On line via Precipitation and Niccolo Dellarca from Nogara, noting the dam of Nearco.

Verry Elleegant with 23 strains Nogara and principal is not Nearco, for 35 strains Gainsborough (sire of Hyperion, Solario, Mah Mahal, Bobsleigh, Naic, Artists Proof).

  • It re-sorts to pro-genitor Zabeel, grand sire of V.E.
  • Imposing (AUS) by Todman – sire and male line of Hyperion & Imposing’s 2nd dam by Landau (IRE) from a Hyperion daughter Sun Chariot

Note Dominance is detail: ……Spy Song (USA) , (Balladier/Mata Hara USA) to distaff King’ Theatre IRE) where Spy Song 3×3 Peter Pan/Command/Domino with 3dx4d Hastings, grandsire Man O’ War. (refer Sir Ivor distaff 3rd dam MOW.

  • further 5th dam by Questionnaire (USA) by Sting a crest to female family 2H with 3×4 Domino. the exclusive trait f.f. 2h is also to Danehill/Danzig aka female producers Alamahoud, Natalma = 9 strains Carbine f.f. 2h. (Plus that genotype of another in similar vein, Northern Dancer, to V.E ped, 4×4.

Examine 30 strains collective across the 9c female-family representative to Cotehele House from Eight Carat, Nasrullah, Fair Trial, Royal Charger, Mahmoud.

Of fate n’ destiny, the sire Zed, a son of Zabeel is but a story rich of NZ’s farm culture.

Zed – purchased for $400k as yearling took a damaging kick when loading onwards to Australia and his career was to remain in New Zealand under the hands of Murray Baker, whom also had trained Zed’s dam Emerald Dream.

Zed (under Baker) had 4 starts for 1 win and went duly retired with a ligament strain.

As new sire @ Little Avondale Stud for fee of $500 2 exciting gallopers broke rank – Survived and Usainity, a G3, 3yo winner at Randwick. Zed unfortunately was also a producer of late-maturing progeny and there was the problem.

He left Little Avondale for stallion duty onwards to a South Canterbury farm, Erewhon Station, there to be bred with Clydesdales, & draft horses yet he further maintained his impact as ‘breeder’. (See photo here. )

It was Stud-master Mark Corcorcan of Grangewilliam Stud (Wanganui) whom saw onwards potential, versatility and Zed’s siring ability was to prove him right.

Zed Em’ – steeple chaser and winner at Sth Australia Oakbank 33 starts, 12 wins.

Irish Flame – 2020 Ballarat Cup winner

Jimmy Mac – NZ Cup winner (3200m)

Rubusto – 2021 Avondale Cup (NZ-G2,2400m,Ellerslie) & 2020 Metropolitan Trophy (NZ-L,2500m,Riccarton)

Further progeny results & stats view here

Yes, Zed’s siring triumph, to his daughter Verry Elleegant a Melbourne Cup winner, a Caulfield Cup winner, a Oaks winner et al, 10 Group 1’s…and below👇 way-back-then the 2yo starlet on debut, at Avondale trials (June 2018), running 2nd of 7.

Aegon, Princequillo, Sacred Falls

3 yr old NZ gelding – Aegon (Sacred Falls (NZ) – Toss Up (NZ) ex- Zabeel )

4 wins from 4, winner of G1 NZ 2000 Guineas 1600m  + G 2 Hawkes Bay Guineas 1400m +Karaka Million 3YO Classic (1600m)

The prior article SACRED FALLS (NZ) potency  illustrated the young New Zealand sire. He sadly deceased from a liver condition in 2019.

Sacred Falls 3 year old gelded son Aegon, went purchased for $NZ150k at NZ Bloodstock Yearling Sales.

This yearling colt had captured the purchasers ‘eye’… athletic, nicely balanced where not overly large yet, the colt had some extra appeal.

– it appears, the gelded son of Sacred Falls (a dual Doncaster miler) shall emulate his sire’s racing abilities.

Postulating the breeding & genetics – the TBL view is to target ‘why/how’ a quality sire over dam meets genotype ‘advanced’ via and thru numerous individuals represented. Where these lend towards or backwards upon old bones, exemplary strains that do exist distinct, they the exalted ones not to be missed, only be ever more so appreciated.

– the integrity of the racehorse thoroughbred to its ancestral bones has paid more principle than could ever be believed. Simply – prototype equals the on-top, dominant.

These exalted ones are the decisive: they are forever, laser sharp, integral to a sport horse finest. Supreme – they are ‘short’ (i.e. no shuttle, no numbers ‘mass’)

Where theory to breeding has reasonable explanatory, it is not the only means to evaluating.

The differentiation compels towards allele dominance supported by attribution traits and yes of course, the study of line-breeding brings thru the main radius of blood.

Solitary, forgotten(?), lost-to, lack of knowledge(s) this has the art of gathering familial bloodlines. Their Genetics are a valuable source & revelation to manifest over repeated generations as to re-evolve where these defiantly DNA ‘transmit’.

They have the ‘missing’ details to discern & examine.

First… the obvious Aegon factors to 5×5 Northern Dancer and 5×5 Mill Reef. Had (personally) always thought O’Reilly (sire of Sacred Falls) was of the chiefly, Princequillo conduit type – there via, Mill Reef. Plus, Sacred Falls 5th dam has grand-sire Princequillo.

The cross-nick applied O’Reilly over Zabeel mares has Princequillo through Sir Tristram. However back…deeper & collectively 9x’s Princequillo preside via Milan Mill, Round Table, Bourbon Prince, Somethingroyal and Monarchy.

What the above emanates… to draw another & how often is it (?) …the familial blue-hen collectively… and easily over looked.

Peruse once again Aegon’s pedigree Aegon Horse Pedigree (pedigreequery.com) for Knights Daughter/Feola – the female family 2f to identify her transmittance, the Conduit factor via, Tell Tell Horse Pedigree (pedigreequery.com) (notably… 2×3 Knights Daughter!!), Round Table and significantly, Tale of the Cat – infused via his daughter, grand-daughter & dam, Toss Up (NZ).

So what does the sire Sacred Falls expose?

No matter what…a sire in his purist design shall reproduce the best of himself.

He will slot into anything…but essentially is an up-grader across all the broodmare numbers given to him.

The breeding future is still IN his…

Bellevue Hill, Exceed and Excel, Miss Matty, Pierro, Princequillo, Summertime

Our research heads to Zabeel’s male-line descendant, the young Australian sire – Bellevue Hill (Pierro – Bellevue Girl by the Danehill son Exceed and Excel.

– as a 2 year old colt, 2 electrifying wins from 4 starts, he early retired to a stallion career….“that run last week probably took the speed out of the legs, but he’s certainly a horse for the future” Tim Clark (jockey)

History & Breeding has showed Quality sires are not always forever, superior on-top racehorse. Their duty to breed, sits ‘highest’ to invigoration, this vehicle to male succession.

Our particular interest arose to Bellevue Hill (AUS) due to his female family distaff the, f.f. 2h – the distaff traces to Martha’s daughters… the Martha Lynn line.

The distinguished female distaff really fires up via, Bellevue’s Girls 9th dam sire Great Star.

Observe these great nucleus strains ⇓ ‘formative’ ⇓ to what gets pedigree ‘going’ potent.

    – Great Star (Sunstar by Sundridge ex- Miss Matty (Marcovil) was a half-brother to Papyrus (Tracery by male-line, Rock Sand by Sainfoin) the English Derby Winner. Notably, Papyrus is the broodmare sire of…Princequillo  and this is where the pedigree rotates to Princequillo ⇔ **Miss Matty (Marcovil)

(interest factor: Papyrus is also the broodmare sire to sprinting brilliance, sire of influence, Honeyway (GB).

Miss Matty (Marcovil) features in Leicester’s Bloodstock Breeding – the chapter Famous Mares of Humble Origins.

As indicated above, she the dam of Papryrus she also produced 8 winners.

* Bold Archer (Phalaris – Miss Matty)

* Paddington (n.b. Leicester describes the individual as ‘hardy’ , winner of 11 races, but no pedigreequery.com records come available)

* Great Star (sent to Australia, per subject ↓ below)

* Miss Matilda (winner)

* Comus (sent to stand in Australia)

* a 1/2 sister and winner, named Bracket and the dam of Parenthesis, also later sent to Australia. Also produced Flamboyant a winner of the Doncaster and Goodwood Cups, placed second in the Ascot Gold Cup.

  – sire, Great Star also expresses 2 strains to the Martha Lynn via Sundridge’s grand-dam, Sanda to the sire Wenlock, by Lord Clifden & also of his sire – Sunstar where his grand-dam sire is Petrarch by Lord Clifden. Lord Clifden by Newminster from The Slave, her dam Volley (Voltaire) being ancestral dam to Bellevue Hill’s dam, Bellevue Girl.

These blue-print(s) above, are fundamental to the formative pattern going ahead. Formative ‘speedster’ trait → Sundridge (Amphion) ex-Sierra (Springfield) grand-dam Sanda, great grand-dam Sandal ….( always remember the Sundridge factor,  serves over: 2x’s to Royal Charger, via his dam Sun Princess & alike, his 3/4 genetic brother Nasrullah.

–  as are sire Sainfoin, and Sierra are brother and sister family (Springfield – Sanda) (a prototype example → Count Fleet

– Marcovil’s great stallion son Hurry On from his dam ⇒ the broodmare sire SAINFOIN. The genotype connections shall follow to our subject ….

…Bellevue Hill – 5sx5d Sir Tristram. Sir Tristram  inbred through 4×3  Princequillo ⇔ hence, formative ‘hotspot cluster mare’ **Miss Matty** (Marcovil) /Rock Sand→Sainfoin

Pierro further expanded, expresses –

     – Octagonal ex- Eight Carat/Klairessa family where grand-dam (sired by Supreme Court → → Hurry On/Marcovil

– Lonhro ex- Concia by First Consul → Princequillo, ex- My Tricia → *Summertime/Precipitation/Hurry On/Marcovil

– Daylami  →3×4 (Princequillo) ↔ via, *Mill Reef / Miswaki (USA)

– Pierro grand-dam Sky Song (IRE) → Shirley Heights/*Mill Reef → Princequillo

– BM sire – Exceed & Excel, grand-dam sire Lomond → Round Table (Princequillo)

Exceed & Excel distaff Gladiolus ⇔ paternal, Citation’s (USA)female distaff →              Hurry On                                                                                                                      – additionally noting Count Fleet has the blueprint mirror & all                importantly, as infused to *Mill Reef pedigree.

ÂąHurry On was an inbred horse, his sire and his dam both being out of Hermit mares

The 1970 chapters to New Zealand breeding…. from male descendants to Hurry On (Marcovil) gave profound impact, stamina racing capability.

Here is an endearing, sobering and insightful true account.

ℜ – The ‘expert’s began to question the wisdom if not at times the thinking ability of the Malcom Brothers. The Malcolms had bought themselves a brown PRECIPITATION (Hurry On) horse out of a bay mare. The expert went to great heights to point out out that no horse belonging to this straight male chestnut line could possibly be any good unless he was a chestnut. J. Malcolm weathered the storms of protest. So strong was the pressure that in his own words it took eight years to get *SUMMERTIME launched.  It was as well for the bloodstock industry of N.Z. that the Malcolm brothers were not tarred with the same brush of impatience. SUMMERTIME  and FOXBRIDGE were the two greatest bloodstock acquisition ever to add unit value to the stud books of New Zealand. credit – The New Zealand Racehorse 1972 publications.

Summertime endowed his stock with class, verve, acceleration and adaptability to almost any racing conditions and was also a magnificent sire of broodmares²

the power…Summertime (Precipitation – Great Truth, by Bahram)

… powerful, ancestral individuals come unchallenged: their notation is unexhaustive ‘causal’ and act forcibly, like genetic markers.

→ to view video of potential sire, Bellevue Hill ⇒ (link) view here.

These unexamined Martha’s and Miss Matty’s sources get consigned to oblivion, lost through history – yet it is uncovering this defining pattern so seductively mirrored to Savabeel’s (Zabeel) 3 wins, 3 starts, sensation colt. The New Zealand branded colt, like the All Black ruby player Richie Mo’unga – goes by the racing name of Mo’unga.

– Mo’unga (Savabeel – Chandelier by O’Reilly) His 5th dam distaff, Seraphic by Summertime. The Princequillo factor run through male line, via, Hold Your Peace + O’Reilly, via 5×5 Princequillo + Centaine via Vain → Court Martial ⇒ Hurry On / Lady Josephine by Sundridge.

“we put 30 spokes to make a wheel, but it is on the hole in the center that the use of the cart hinges” Laozi

‘fixing’ prototype = phenotype (balance) = genotype ( genetics, speed and stamina and constitutional make-up robust).
