Pedigree Profile – 3 yr old filly, Saxon Warrior (JPN) – Sheza Gypsy ex- Shaft (Aus) Sheza Alibi Horse Pedigree .
Sheza Alibi with her outright classic flesh and strong conformation, she is @ Plucky Leige – 5 lines noting – Bois Roussel 9dx7dx8D – Bull Dog 5x – Sir Gallahad 2x.
Closer…@ 2 strains @ War Gypsy 4th dam > Bois Roussell (Fr) by Vatout from Plucky Liege by Spearmint (Carbine)
Bois Roussell – an exceptional broodmare sire. Plucky Liege equally powerful (genetically) as Almahmoud.
> 12x Almahmoud thru Cosmah (Halo) & Natalma (Northern Dancer & Spring Adieu/Danehill). The siring class of Mahmoud (13x) by Blenheim got daughters producing natural speed, a constitution in turf steel.
Not so odd, many bargains appear to work through the numerous pathways via Mahmoud progeny.
To turn to the distaff side of Bois Roussel‘s pedigree, his dam Plucky Liege was one of the greatest broodmares of modern times whose influences has been felt on bloodstock, throughout the world. Bred in England 1912 she won four two-year old races, given the name Lucky Liege and then became Plucky Liege on account of her owner’s admiration for the defence of Liege during the early days of the First World War.
After her racing career Plucky Liege went to France. The first of her 12 produce of particular note was Sir Gallahad III, born when she was eight years old. He won the French 2,000 Guineas and other good races including the Lincolnshire Handicap and was placed in the French Derby and St. Leger. Sent to America he proved to be an exceptional stallion, compiling himself exceptional broodmares. Plucky Liege also continued to produce daughters’ winners until the age of 23. The outstanding point is that all her sons were good stallions. There cannot be a major bloodstock breeding country in the world that has not had one or more horses holding court by Sir Gallahad III, Bois Roussel, Bull Dog or Admiral Drake. In Bois Roussel’s case his granddam was by St Simon and his paternal great-grandsmire by St Simon. (excerpts Sir Charles Leicester, Bloodstock Breeding – Revival of the St Simon line)
The Vatout male line of stamina gained exceptional success in Australia and New Zealand through its two main branches of Vatellor and Bois Roussel. (Ross du Bourg)
Shez Alibi also upholds to the ‘revival’ of the St Simon lines: the transformative Lyphard from Goofed, Ahonoora via the filly’s Indian Ridge & Princess Tracy. As impactful, 8x Princequillo – 6x Selene, the premium S.S. ‘tribe’ once so powerful undoubtedly transforms breeding genotype for generating steely phenotype.
Australasian’s classic and astute stud masters further climaxed the Star Kingdom male line descendant to culminate, the freakish speed, Our Maizcay, a champion sprinter miler – 2nd dam sire of Sheza Alibi.
Our Maizcay – Selene dam line.
Clearly the major impact of Mahmoud progeny. Very interesting Alzao by Lyphard > 5×5 Mahmoud (Almamoud & Mr Trouble) other affinity Maizcay (Aus) via distaff, Donatella and Mahmoud son Cohoes ➡️ Rahy’s 3rd dam. Northern Dancer’s dam of course, Almahmoud, inclusive Danehill. Shez Alibi – 4×4 Danehill.
–Our Maizcay daughters may very well be the ‘new’ broodmare market in demand ie Selene (dam of Hyperion), ‘she’ is importantly, a St Simon sire line. Sire Maizcay, Star Kingdom/Hyperion male line. Maizcay, 3rd dam by Hyperion.
