Of late our TBL profiles @ Dubawi draw to influence @ Tom Fool (Dubai Millenium – Shareef Dancer – Dancing Brave) and here subject colt American Eagle whilst an outcross profile, again arises Tom Fool influence upon the Australian bred (via – Danehill & Snippets/Lunchtime/Silly Season).

Silly Season – Grandsire of Jesmond Lass, dam of Canny Lad, b/m sire Redoubte’s Choice & b/m sire American Eagle.

Tom Fool born to lead, born to win.

Tom Fool was purchased as a yearling by John Hay Whiteny on the account of the brilliant natural speed two-year-old Capot by Menow (Belmont & Preakness Stakes). Capot proved to be sterile.

Tom Fool raced with a smooth stride and effortless speed. He was a muscular powerhouse of a sprinter. To his four-year-old campaign he was undefeated in 10 races. 1953 he took to his honour, The Horse of the Year title from grey ghost, Native Dancer who won 9 of his 10 races. They never met.

Retired with 21 wins from 30 starts, his only losses came when carrying absurd weight. On a muddy Belmont track for the 1953 Sysonby Mile Tom Fool did something extraordinary: he won while carrying 136 pounds. Winning by 8 lengths his final remarkable show was the 1953 Jockey Club Gold Cup, a grueling two-mile test of stamina. It was a distance he had never run before, a distance that could bring even champions to their knees. But Tom Fool never faltered

Intelligent with sheer defiance, he possessed an ability to conserve speed. Tom Fool had the uncanny ability to read the race, exploding where it mattered most, at the wire. An inheritable factor his son Tim Tam was known for.

He was the best two-year-colt of 1951, Horse of the Year 1951 amongst the leading American sires with the great Buckpasser, Tim Tam (Kentucky Derby), and more.

Buckpasser could master instant acceleration, he was one of the gamest and most genuine stakes winners bristling with electricity and able to set a world record. He carried high weights in big Graded handicaps.

Tom Fool distinguishes individual superiority.

Tom Fool had undeniable versatility.

With each individual various, amass strains @Domino from dam, Mannie Gray. Domino has 3x4x4 Lexington by Boston (4x). Throughout breeding history, the Domino blood finds an exemplary class true. To capture this unique & striking phenotype identifies that inheritance.

As depicted above @ Byerley Turk descendant lines accentuate primarily a ‘vital blood’ and no finer pedigree can ever do without it. The early US breeders alongside French breeders were amazingly perceptive in their breeding founding new dynasties. Foremostly, the breeding trends went without over-saturating bloodstock. Many countries today find dilemmas to a superior outcross, with the demise of staying blood.

-#BT Tourbillon was the French counterpart to Phalaris and Hyperion, a staying sire without parallel who had been one of the foremost staying influences in France. Tourbillon was not considered a thoroughbred duly his American foundation mare (Frizette by Hamburg 4×4 Lexington). However, the multiple & considered genetic value through American Eagle via Lyphard dam side, Abdos (5x4x3 Teddy), My Babu, Ahonoora of no substitute.

#BT line Ahonoora also carries Plucky Liege through broodmare sire Martial (IRE).

3x Sir Ivor (Shareef Dancer – Show Lady – Sir Tristram) > Sir Ivor 5×5 Plucky Leige – @distaff Alcibiades by Supremus/Ultimus > 3×3 Domino.

Domino was undefeated as a juvenile and had only been beaten once when he faced Clifford and Henry of Navarre in the celebrated match race. His trainer Albert Cooper was so surprised by Domino’s brilliant speed the first time he tried the colt on the track, Cooper worked him again the next day with the same result.

The Domino effect isolates a great racehorse and was most successful during his short stud career of only two seasons. His son Commando was also an outstanding racer, unlucky ever to know defeat. He died young, having had only four years at stud during which he sired unbeaten Colin, Peter Pan, Celt and others of high merit in American racing. Ultimus never ran.

Nijinsky & Sir Ivor: Nijinsky’s 2nd dam Flaring Top was by Menow – whose half-sister Salaminia produced Sir Ivor’s grandam Athenis when mated with Menow’s sire Pharamond II.

The distaff side of Sir Ivor, his dam Attica won five race around a mile at three and four years of age, and was placed in two stakes races at 81/2 furlongs. Attica was by the stayer Mr Trouble , third in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. Athenia, was second in the Kentucky Oaks, produced 11 foals, nine of which were winners.

Athenia was by Hyperion’s half-brother Pharamond II out of Salaminia, likely the best daughter of Man o’ War to race. Salaminia won two top-class races, the Alabama Stakes and the Ladies Handicap. Salaminia the half-sister to Menow, sire of Tom Fool.

The dam of Salaminia and Menow was Alcibiades, the Kentucky Oaks winner. The dam line was originally introduced to America in 1923, six years before the sire line was first seen there, when Regal Roman (by Roi Herode FR) was exported from England as a two-year-old.
