Its deep-down Nature at-work, much never to be known but here is the ‘game’.
Never mind. I find it exciting to confirm (to oneself) why I believe pedigrees are not only families returning to themselves but bloodline-typed to those families.
In our last blog Knowledge folks, now that’s ya’ horse. I made at attempt, to explain how or why pedigrees trace back to ‘type’, shown by the fabulous pedigree of Enable (GB) – (Nathaniel (IRE) x. Concentric (GB) + 2017 Cartier European Horse of the Year & European 3 yr old filly. http://www.pedigreequery.com/enable2
Enthusiasts will note the close (3s x 2d) breeding to Sadlers Wells (USA) – a dynastic gene empire all on its own.
time period 1951 – 1997 : if my assumption is right, that during the last seventy years breeders have not made much use of intensive inbreeding, then I think it is really remarkable what great horses have been produced in the last seventy years by this method. Barcaldine, Flying Fox, Ksar, Havresac II, at once spring to mind, all racehorses of the very highest class- all stallions who have left an indelible impression on modern pedigrees, all in-bred in the second and third generation. Surely it is worth trying this intense inbreeding more frequently, providing the breeder is prepared to confine his inbreeding to the very greatest names, and nothing else will do, he stands a far better chance of producing good racehorses than by confining his methods solely to outcrossing, although it is quite understandable that breeders for sale will be reluctant to accept the risks involved. – Nesbit Waddington, text quoted from Inbreeding to Superior females by Rommy Faversham & Leon Rasmussen
Further of Sadlers Wells, I shall additionally highlight inclusive, & important strains, reflecting a beautiful ‘patterned’ pedigree which has almost merged the natural passage (if you will) striking the chord and jazz notes to alchemize and chime perfection.
Without reference to racing (names) identity – we shall stress upon & apply family tables. This demonstrates a very strong pattern and a type formulation TBL has noted many, many a time peculiarly to the European breeding operations and through history.
Key strains, key families, key at-origins…the #9:#4 maternal affiliation. Like building-blocks, the #9:#4 key strain factoring remembers the familial structuring relationship. Maternal over maternal.
Utilizing maternal capitalizes on the xx inheritances where we may begin to source or unravel foundation and the natural evolvement.
Application of such, yields and produces strength. It is purposeful breeding at-structure, not to waste what is the natural maternal potential within or, of what breeding has induced before.
Breeding swells (upgrades) or decreases the value of the genetic pool to ‘curve’ the generational cycle e.g. Sigmoid curve influence. It is natural & Nature for breeding to peak and pause.
By observation, long-term (40 yr +) breeders will probably comprehend this easier. The commercial investor breeder would not realize these merits.
Returning to our subject horse Enable, it is helpful to view ‘back-rows’; 5th remove or beyond. It is to ‘translate’ the folding/unfolding of genetic workings to picture and compose the phenotype structure working forth: not individually but as emergence to the collective whole.
Our particular interests will start on the maternal tailed lines which fuse. Distinctly it is the #4 family of varying branches where Enable is the #4m family. Of differing identities the #4 branches are, it is however, the mitochondrial DNA or blood grouping (xx,xx,xx) we shall concentrate towards at X ‘origins’.
The sire’s maternal line is of #9f, the sire’s xy,xx #9h. They come into collective effect as ‘Y’.
However simplified, or complicated or rationalized or disbelieved even (?), the application is to purify the composite animal in cohesive degrees.
It’s time. Patience.
Why – the origins.
SEEK identifying ‘how’ possibilities makes for the repeat cycles of family affiliations producing concentrated gene pools over and above in-breeding.
