‘Rising Trends in Inbreeding of Japanese Thoroughbred horses’. https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jes/35/4/35_2407/_pdf evaluates Northern Dancer through his son & sire Lyphard & Sunday Silence to paternal, Hail to Reason. The latest example to the winning 2yr G1 colt – Admire Zoom by Maurice from Daiwa Zoom by Heart’s Cry.
It was and goes clear where Lyphard is key-marker, which pdf expresses “The probability that a gene in Lyphard is homozygous” from examples in Do Deuce is 1/27 (0.00781). Do Deuce (JPN) by Heart’s Cry has 4×4 Lyphard – 4×5 Hail to Reason
Lyphard, dam Goofed distaff >> 5×5 Chouberski + 5×5 Basse Terre @ Byerley Turk
As GSB fails upon many a numerous founder mare, where the Haplotype (at best) engages the truer familial family. Exploring these determinants, geneticists just might allow or may yet familiarize the public further, what more RH character matches to.
I’ve taken an account and strong interest to the Family 3-c of which ancestral source has Mentmore Lass & now, regrettably, Coterie in family 3-c is likely not to this category however, may yet interact in another similar Haplotype. Coterie in ancestral distaff as family 3-c arises in Northern Dancer’s distaff through Chance Shot (Fair Play), as also does Coterie ancestral distaff to Halo, sire of Sunday Silence.
Family 3C: Mentmore Lass is ancestral distaff to Radium by Bend Or ( & note Bend Or is actually Tadcaster). see reference to https://www.plusvital.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Resolving-the-identity-of-the-founding-elite-thoroughbred-racehorses.pdf?fbclid=IwAR1aUIw5BCy3udD5QTm2g3MVcYKP2x6qBVzid4cUlbyf92gRiPCshI-Rv84***Figure 2. The fact that Bend Or/Tadcaster geno is in fact Clemence shall clarify the extent of the Martha Lynn lineage ie Carbine and descendants recognizing a Haplotype L4 inheritance. ***Bull Dog (FR) – Bend or/Tadcaster, Carbine, Lord Clifden is a great example to be observed.
The family 3-c with haplotype similarity in Family 37 tho rarely seen to the contemporary Ped-Tables Also it seems a similarity to some earlier lines in family 18, 18-a & American Family 48 + 1branch in Family 24. (ex- Table 2, https://www.plusvital.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Thoroughbred-racehorse-mitochondrial-DNA-demonstrates-closer-than-expected-links-between-maternal-genetic-history.pdf
Of past, elite-superior type has Radium – sire of Night Raid, sire of Phar Lap. Radium son Clarissmus (GB) is broodmare sire of Tesio bred, Donatello (Blenheim). Influence to French bred Triple Crown 2yo Brantome (Blandford).
Come, upon Lyphard, thedam Goofed has Formor (FR) to b/m sire Clarissmus by Radium.
This familiar insight runs to Elite US sire Gun Runner has 5×4 Lyphard + 4×5 Blushing Groom + 4×4 Fappiano. His line bred goes fascinating for 4s x 7d Herbager & 9x9x9 Bois Roussell thence the Vatout male line to dam line Vasthi/Vaya. It further astonishes the signficant 8x #Byerley Turk in Ksar particularly & further leverages to high-notables like 11x ***Bull Dog.
Forever worth every cent, Gun Runner (US) at 2025 US$250,000 duly his siring factors classic bloodlines, potency undeniable & supreme genotype. https://www.americasbestracing.net/the-sport/2024-gun-runner-qualities-horse-needs-long-successful-racing-career
With casting over Gun Runner’s son and new sire Gunite, the influence to Radium in Naskra arises so it can be reasonably expected he shall be very exciting. Again a Radium influence (fam 3-c haplotype A1a) Sierre Leone via b/m sire Malibu Moon >> Green Dancer >> Val de Loir (FR)
It is a certainty geneticists shall place more precision to the GSB.

Clarissimus bred and owned by Lord Falmouth, was out of the unbeaten Quintessence, winner of the 1903 One Thousand Guineas. The name of Clarissimus was in hundreds of the most ‘fashionable’ French pedigrees.
Hello Jane, reading your post on Lyphard and the links. Ellen Parker per her reine-de-course site wrote an article on Lyphard which to this day is fascinating…why you say. “Lyphard himself was a picture of Northern Dancer….a quite common looking cobbly little horse. Lyphard had a rare ability that most ND’s did not. His offspring tended to all he far more elegant than he was, and nearly all his good sons from Manila to Lypheor were physical improvements over him to a marker degree, often taking after the dam’s side of their pedigree or inbreeding to a dominant ancestor.”
Manila went to Turkey, Dancing Brace to Japan….going to find the article instead of typing. I’ll get back with you on this.
